The Hat Tricks took an unpleasant 9-2 loss against the Mountain Kings to start their weekend series. It was a contest that featured some mishaps on the defensive end for Danbury and an unfortunate showcase of bad habits crawling back in. Goals from Tournas and Larocque were a few bright spots for the Hat Tricks, overall it was a game that did not show off the true strength of this team.
Danbury Defense Collapses
The Mountain Kings were able to take control of the game late in the first period. As they lit the lamp four times in a 2:58 span. The defense seemed to cave into the pressure after the first goal, as they began to make simple mistakes that led to a quick downfall. The last goal in the first period came off of a Mountain Kings power play that ended up leaving a bitter taste in the end of the first. These mistakes would continue throughout the contest, as the Mountain Kings would also eventually grab a shorthanded goal of their own.
Hat Tricks Fall Back To Bad Habits
Danbury made some questionable decisions throughout the course of 60 minutes. Certain Passes that were made led to turnovers that could have been avoided, The power play unit also seemed to be suffocated throughout despite having the odd-man advantage. The penalty section of the scoresheet also spoke for itself, as the Hat Tricks would not be able to keep themselves out of the box. The penalty kill unit went 4/6 to end the night.
