DANBURY, CT – The Hat Tricks open up their week with a midweek tilt against the New Jersey Titans tonight at Danbury Ice Arena. Danbury will take the ice for the first time in ten days and battle the Titans for the first time this year. The Hat Tricks went 2-5-0-1 against the Titans last year but went an impressive 2-1-0-1 at home against their Eastern Division rivals throughout the 2020-21 season.
Danbury had a cold start to the season, going 1-6 over their first seven games. Since then, the Hat Tricks have picked it up, going 2-2-2 over their last six. The Hat Tricks have been aided by solid play from their top point producers including Gabe Dombrowski who put up five points over Jamestown the last weekend Danbury was in action.
New Jersey is coming off of a split with Northeast and sits at 6-6-1 this season, good for third place in the NAHL East. The Titans have been paced by two players who sit at or above a point per game on the young season. Both Tommy Bannister and Brendan Dumas average a point per game, at 14 and 13 points respectively. New Jersey has also benefitted from strong goaltender play from Andrew Takacs, who has amassed a 4-2-1 record with a 2.24 goals against average and a .925 save percentage this year.
“It has been a steady build-up throughout the week, as we got ready for this three-game stretch,” noted Hat Tricks head coach Billy McCreary. “The energy has been high, and we like where our guys are at.”
The Hat Tricks will ready for a weekend with Johnstown after their mid-week tilt with New Jersey. They will host the Tomahawks Friday and Saturday evenings to wrap up this week’s NAHL action.
