DANBURY, CT — The Danbury Hat Tricks hosted the Maine Nordiques this weekend for a two-game series at Danbury Arena, and the Nordiques took both games, 5-1 on Friday and 4-2 on Tuesday.
The Hat Tricks opened the scoring on Friday night with a first-period power play goal by Hayden Stocks, his first goal in the North American Hockey League. But the Nordiques’ offense started clicking in the second period, when they scored three goals on 16 shots. They added two more goals in the third period to provide the final margin. Miles Roberts made 31 saves in the loss.
Danbury again opened the scoring on Saturday with two first-period goals, one by Stocks, and the second by defenseman Marius Angelin. Though it was a fairly even game over the last two periods, Maine evened up the game in the second and got a goal from Charles Tardif in the final ten minutes to take the lead. David Overbeeke appeared to score a goal to even the game soon after, but the puck had been blown dead before he could put it in. Jake Bernadet then scored for Maine to provide the final margin. C.J. Kier made 32 saves.
The Hat Tricks face off against the always-dangerous Maryland Black Bears this Friday and Saturday at home. Tune in on NAHLTV.com.
