The Hat Tricks battled the Northeast Generals for the second-straight night on Thursday, and although they outshot the Generals 54-35 they, unfortunately, fell 6-2 against their eastern division rivals.
Northeast jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half of the first period and followed that up by scoring two goals in the first three minutes of the second. The Hat Tricks would answer that flurry with a snipe from Mike Salandra, who netted his second goal of the season at the 6:46 mark of the middle frame.
“We did a lot of things great tonight,” assistant coach Matt Voity chimed in. “We are a young team, and we have a lot of growth ahead of us.”
Heading into the third trailing 5-1, Danbury would net one more. Boris Skalos took advantage of a fortuitous bounce that ended up on his tape in the slot and buried a wrister top corner for the second and final goal of the night for the Hat Tricks.
Northeast netminder Carson Limesand stole the show on Thursday, amassing an astounding 52 saves en-route to his second victory of the season.
Next up for the Hat Tricks is the first venture outside of the Eastern Division in the franchise’s history. They head to Blaine, Minnesota for the 2021 NAHL Showcase where they will face the St. Cloud Norsemen on Wednesday, September 15th.
