LEWISTON, ME- The Hat Tricks wrapped up their weekend series against Maine on Saturday and couldn’t overcome four unanswered goals in a 5-4 loss.
The Hat Tricks went up 2-0 in the first period with goals from Hunter Young (2) and Miles Harrington (2). The Nordiques would respond with two goals in the final five minutes and twelve seconds of the period to even it at two headed to the second.
The second period saw Maine score two goals to open the period before Ben Biester (3) would light the lamp for the third straight contest and make the score 4-3 after two periods of play.
The third period was controlled and patrolled by the Hat Tricks who were primed for a comeback. Danbury swarmed the offensive zone and had a handful of quality scoring chances before surrendering a back-breaking goal to Ignat Belov, who totaled four points on the weekend against the Hat Tricks.
Danbury would get another goal from Harrington (3) who buried a shot after a long bout of sustained pressure for the Hat Tricks. But they could not muster up another one as they eventually fell 5-4.
The Hat Tricks look to get back to their winning ways at home next weekend. They welcome the Jamestown Rebels to Danbury Ice Arena in the first of nine straight home games.
