The NAHL Danbury Hat Tricks played two games at home this weekend. against the East Division-leading Maryland Black Bears, with the visitors coming away with wins by scores of 4-1 and 7-3.
On Friday, Maryland won 4-1 despite a strong 30-save performance from Miles Roberts. Maryland led 2-0 after the first period and 3-0 deep into the second before a goal in the last minute of the frame, the first of the season for Alexios Georgaklis, cut the deficit to 3-1. The Black Bears scored early in the third to provide the final margin.
On Saturday, the Black Bears came away with a 7-3 win despite two power play goals by the Hat Tricks. Liam Varmecky scored the first goal on the man advantage in the second period to cut the score to 2-1. Noah Ziskie scored at even strength in the first half of the third period, and Emerson Molas picked up his fourth goal of the year on the power play later on in the third. C.J. Kier made 21 saves. Luke Amell and Adam Schankula each scored twice for Maryland.
The Hat Tricks have a home-and-home with the New Jersey Titans this weekend, with a home game on Friday at 7 and a game in Middletown, New Jersey at the same time on Saturday. Both games will be on NAHL.TV.
