Johnstown, PA | Patrick Frenette
Danbury showed Johnstown their brand of hockey tonight, which led to a blowout victory for the Hat Tricks. Two-point efforts from Kai Elkie, Alexis Billequey, Niko Tournas, and Ryan Lukko, as well as 27 saves on 28 shots for Tyler Spokane lifted the Hat Tricks to their 6-1 victory over the Tomahawks.
On Brand
Danbury did something they need to do more often tonight, which is showing the true brand/identity of the team on the ice. Danbury whipped six goals past the Tomahawks while providing a physical game throughout the full 60 minutes. Something that Head Coach Lenny Caglianone has preached is hard work and making smart decisions, which is clearly what took place tonight.
Perfect Night For Special Teams
The Hat Tricks have struggled on special teams throughout their past three games with Johnstown, yet tonight was quite literally a perfect night. Danbury went 1/1 on the power play, while going 2/2 on the penalty kill to have a well rounded, 100% success rate night. Now the team has one week break following the win, yet it will be interesting to see if they keep this momentum up in the new year.
Lineup Notes
The Hat Tricks took sharing is caring to a new meaning tonight as all six goals were scored by different players. A few performances worth noting include rookie forward Isaac Mitchell notching his first goal of the season/first career NAHL goal to start off the scoring for Danbury. Tournas (2A), Elkie (1G, 1A), Bilequey (1G, 1A), and Lukko (1G, 1A) all had two-point performances on the night. The crease was well protected as netminder Tyler Spokane put up a .964 save percentage making 27 saves on 28 shots.
